Siri Derkert (1888–1973) was a pioneering Swedish artist known for her bold expressionist style and strong political activism. She studied art in Stockholm and Paris, challenging traditional norms and advocating for gender equality early in her career. A trip to Algeria in 1914 deeply influenced her use of color and composition.

Balancing motherhood with her art, she explored fashion design, journalism, and portraiture before gaining recognition in the 1940s for her emotionally powerful portraits. Inspired by feminist and pacifist movements, her later work focused on public art, highlighting themes of women’s rights, peace, and environmental issues. Siri Derkert is celebrated for her innovative techniques and her role as a pioneering female voice in Swedish modern art.

Our process

Every piece in our shop could easily belong in our own home. That's our guiding principle. We handpick vintage art, textiles, and lighting, each with a patina that grows finer with age. To care for each item, we collaborate with skilled craftspeople in Sweden—a framing workshop, a seamstress, a lampshade maker, and an electrician. Every piece is unique and lovingly reviewed before we consider selling it.
